Modernized legacy shipyard systems

We refactored over 30 years of legacy code and automated key workflows to reduce delays and improve coordination across departments in the shipyard.

Problem

The shipyard’s core software, originally developed in the 1990s, no longer supported current business needs. Coordinating work across many different departments was difficult, leading to scheduling issues and dependency bottlenecks in ship construction.

Challenge

Decades of ad-hoc development had embedded hundreds of business rules into the system, resulting in extremely complex logic. Any small error or change could potentially delay the production of an oil tanker, given the tightly interwoven processes.

Our Solution

We recoded critical parts of the system and added new functionality while preserving proven legacy modules. Our team worked closely with employees in each department to learn their workflows and identify automation opportunities. The final solution automated many day-to-day tasks and significantly reduced interdepartmental dependency delays, modernizing the platform without disrupting ongoing operations.
